 System of Assessment for Academic Year 2023 – 2024

           There is change in examination system from this session to increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for class X board examination when they join the upper primary stage class VI, the school has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment and examination for all classes, keeping in view the provision of right of education Act, 2009 the scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning Assessment as the students move forward. This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenge of class X Board examination and would thus ensure the ‘quality of education’.

 Scholastic Area:-

 The Assessment structure and examination for classes play to XII is as follow :-

 a)   Category – 1

For Class Play to II

Assessments will be taken once in a month Continuous Assessment will be carried out throughout the year. Students will be awarded grades according to their assessment.

The grading system will be as follows :-

b)   Category – 2

For class III to V :-

There will be two terms i.e 1st term (September) and 2nd term (March). In between there will be two periodic tests in the month of July and December.

The weightage will be as follows :-

Ø I Periodic test – 10%

Ø Half Yearly – 30%

Ø II Periodic test  – 10%

Ø Exam – 50%

Both marks and grades will be awarded to the students.

Each monthly test will be 50 marks, 10 marks for notebook maintain and punctuality and 40 marks test. For promotion to the next class a student must get 40% in each subject and 45% in aggregate.

c)    Category – 3

For Class VI to VIII

The assessment structure and examination for classes VI to VIII have been prepared in view of the provision of RTE Act 2009 and Comprises of two terms.

There will be two terms i.e 1st term (September) and 2nd term (March). In between there will be two periodic tests in the month of July and December.

The system is as follows :-

Class VI : 10% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term.

Class VII  20 % of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term.

Class VIII : 30% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term.

Co-Scholastic Activities (Classes VI – VIII) : For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out in CBSE affiliated schools by the teachers and will be graded term – wise on a 3 point grading scale (A= Outstanding, B= Very Good and C= Fair).

(a)  Work Education – Work Education refers to skill based activities resulting in goods or services useful to the community.

1.     Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)

2.     Health and Physical Education (Sports/ Martial Arts/ Yoga/ NCC etc.)

Discipline (Classes VI – VIII):  The students will also be assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and other, Grading on Discipline will be done term-wise on a 3 point grading scale (A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair).

d)   Category – 4

For Class IX to X :-

There will be two terms i.e 1st term (September) and 2nd term (March). In between there will be two periodic tests in the month of July and December.

There will be no semester system full syllabus will come in Annual Exam.

The weightage will be as follows :-

Ø Periodic test – 10 marks.

Ø Notebook – 5marks.

Ø Subject enrichment – 5 marks.

Ø Annual examination – 80 marks.

Total – 100 marks.

Co-scholastic areas are work education, Art education, physical and health education assessed on 5 point scale.

Note :- Date sheet will be intimated when the exams will start.

Subject Enrichment Activities :- These are subject – specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students. These activities are to be carried out throughout the term; however, they should be evaluated at the term end.

Languages :- Aimed at equipping the learners to develop effective listening and speaking skills. The language teachers may devise their own methods and parameters for assessment of the languages.
